Introducing the expert craftsman behind Thorian Framing
I am Brian Hector, the owner of Thorian Framing. After many years’ experience in framing, I came to a crossroads in my career when redundancy loomed. Rather than go back into employment I took the opportunity to step out on my own and so, in 2014, Thorian Framing was launched.
Right from the start, I focused on offering a high-end, bespoke framing service and wanted something different to the run of the mill framing business names such as the location name, framer’s name and general framing terms. So, I chose a combination of my first and last names to create Thorian.
I combine my framing skills and experience with a professional personal consultation, where I will advise on all elements of how best to frame, protect and preserve your items, including recommendations on design, colour, appropriate materials, and glazing.
In my 20+ years in framing I have had the opportunity to frame a diverse range of items from medals to photographs; paintings to clothing; sporting items to rare prints, and pretty much everything in between. One of the more unusual items was a canvas destination sign that used to be on the front of an old bus (when they used to have the sign that wound around to the destination.
Another memorable project was a selection of tiles that were from a parents’ old kitchen that was being re-designed so had sentimental value and were framed to make a feature piece in the new kitchen.
Each and every frame is designed and crafted to best display and protect your keepsakes, photos, art and memorabilia so you can enjoy them for years to come.
Each and every frame is designed to best display and protect what is inside.
Vast choice of frames
- Designed to protect and display any 2D or 3D item.
- Four levels to choose from with Museum being the ultimate protection for your items through to budget-conscious options. Whichever option you choose, all are designed to enhance the items.
- We always provide recommendations to suit once we’ve reviewed the item you wish to have framed.
Mounts to compliment
- A mount is a thin, flat piece of material positioned within the frame and placed between the frame and picture.
- Designed to prevent the item from touching the glass, and also to frame and enhance its visual appeal so your keepsakes, mementos, art, and unique or valuable items are displayed in the best possible way.
- We offer an extensive choice of colour and thickness of mounts and will always discuss the best options to suit the item you wish to frame.
We offer a full range of glazing options to fully protect your framed items.
From plain glass to diffused (non-reflective) and anti-glare. Indoor lighting plus sunlight, as well as the depth of frame, can impact visibility so we always discuss where your framed piece will be positioned before making recommendations.
When safety or weight is an issue we offer plastic glazing which is available in a variety of thicknesses and finishes. A wide range of options are offered including scratch-resistant and anti-glare and are also available with up to 99% UV filtering too, which will greatly enhance the protection of what you wish to frame.
Conservation Grade Glass
This helps to protect your artwork, photographs, textiles, and keepsakes by filtering out harmful UV light rays that are present in outdoor and indoor light. UV light can contribute to fading and deterioration of your treasured piece. We offer options that block up to 99% of UV light rays with or without anti-glare and also our highest quality glazing choice, Museum Glass which provides maximum clarity and protection.
Each project is designed entirely for you
We have established a reputation for high-quality standards that focus on conservation framing and are traditionally used to protect and preserve rare and high-value items. We use many of these techniques with all our framing, taking into account your budget and also the item you wish to frame and where you wish to display it. We look at what the item is made of and how it could be affected by natural or indoor lighting and advise on the glazing that will best maintain it in its current condition. You can trust us to take the utmost care of all your personal keepsakes, and offer the very best bespoke framing for you.
